The Music Therapy Program is a 6-week therapist-led group program for NDIS participants or people experiencing a physical or mental disability. Music therapy is a research-based practice and service in which music is used to actively support people as they strive to improve their health, functioning and well-being.

Our music therapists incorporate a range of music-making methods within and through a therapeutic relationship to address individual participant goals.

Music therapy is used to improve respiration, lowering blood pressure, improved cardiac output, reduced heart rate and relaxed muscle tension. For mental health, this form of therapy is great for reducing stress and assisting with emotional and behavioural concerns. Music therapy touches all aspects of the mind, body, brain and behaviour. Music can provide a distraction for the mind, it can slow the rhythms of the body, and it can alter our mood, which in turn can influence behaviour.
